Go Up Go Down

Found this pistol 10" down while i was prospecting near Mt Magnet in West Australia unfortunately  i could not locate the cylinder.Having noted the pistol was frozen in the cocked position  i took it to police ballistics and they confirmed it as a Belgium made .38 revolver.

That's a cool find - almost looks like a work of art now.

Go Up Go Down

This pistol probably goes back to the 1800's as it has no trigger guard.  I have to laugh because I have found a couple of cylinders out of revolvers like this over the years.  Lets suppose the bad guy was sneaking up on a miner to rob him and had the pistol cocked and ready to fire. The prospectors trusty dog of 100 lbs or so jumped the bad guy from a cliff just to the side.  The dog broke the bad guys neck, the gun flew up in the air and hit a rock.  The gun broke and the cylinder went rolling down the hill.  Well the miner thought he better high tail out of there and just scooped up all his belongings and left the broken pistol parts laying where they was.  In time the buzzards and other critters ate the body of the bad guy and Dingos pulled apart the body and carried off big chunks scattering all that was left of him.  You need to go back where you found this shootin iron and get out the detector.  Make like a detective and find out what happened way back when.  Mark in your pocket book a little map of where you found the cylinder, his pocket watch that was broken and stopped a 10:23, some coins that were in his pocket, a gold ring with a silver setting with a red ruby in the center,  his bone handled pocket knife,  some buttons here and there,  a Gold plated locket of his dear old mother and any other stuff from this incindent.  Then you can write your own story right here.  Maybe it will be better than mine.
