Perhaps our European colleagues might want to compare the violent crime rates in Switzerland to those in other countries in Europe.

did you know that most (90%) of the guns used by the mexican war loards come from the US,and there not used to fight snakes, and as for Switzerland, its non Nato...neutrail,just take a look at Canada....well whats the murder rate (gun related) there,
Mike
plus we do have very liberial drug laws, its sort of state controled, you can buy pot no problem and its legal to carry up to 10g for personal use, this busniss is not in the hands of drug lords(not that I take drugs)...this is how you keep crime down,if some thing is illeagal every one wants it (look at the US ban on alcohol in the 1920ties) and how crime rate rose to an all time high

Actually that 90% is not accurate.....the correct figure is 90% of the guns traced to the United States originated in the United States (i.e. were manufactured in the US)....BUT as a per centage of all the arms found in Mexico (such as AK47s, uzis, and fully automatic weapons, not to mention rocket launchers, etc.) the arms traced to the United States amount to about 20% of the total.

Either way, you're free to choose the system of laws you want.   We would prefer to keep ours, thank you very much).

My position is simple:

1) No government can keep all weapons out of the hands of the criminal element.

2) No government can 100% protect all of its citizens.

3) No government is 100% trustworthy to not abuse an unarmed citizenry.

4) No politican has ever lived who is more concerned about his fellow citizens then he is about himself.

An armed population is the only thing that offers protection against criminals in and out of government.

God didn't make all men equal...Sam Colt did.  The NWO [New World Order] is behind collecting all the guns so when they take over it will be easier for them.  Crime is allowed to continue in all western countries so the government can build a powerful police force and justify controling the citizens more.  We need to start hanging some of these rapists, murderers and child molesters.  That would put a dent in crime statistics.  Say if I found a shootin iron like this I would get the serial number and find out who bought it, where and when.  If it belonged to John Dillinger while he was hiding out down under...it would be worth a mint.  If no record of celebrities then turn it in...maybe.

There is quite a difference between the American and Swiss situation. The Americans combine loads of weapons with a fascination of violence....

Typical European attitude.  A mixture of condemnation and disdain delivered with an air of implied superiority. Perhaps our "fascination of violence" is what's enabled us to save the ass of pseudo intellectual, snobish Europeans in 2 different World Wars.

Of course we could be like the Dutch and simply pass laws that legalize everything in Society, ie: prostitution, drugs and God knows what else.  That's precisely why I haven't been to the Netherlands in the last 15 years.  Amazingly the Dutch have a very high opinion of themselves even though they've never accomplished anything of significance.......

Willyboy, your attack on the Dutch is out of line and displays an ignorance of the history of both the Netherlands and of the United States of America.
Not only do we in the United States owe a great debt to Dutch explorers of the New World, or at least to expeditions sponsored by the Dutch, but much of the historic American mercantile/capitalist system is pattern after the Dutch system of the seventeenth and early eighteenth century.   Further many of our political philosophies and principles can be found as underlying principles of the Dutch War of Independence from Spain.   In fact there is a very real possibility that Thomas Jefferson and his fellow framers of our Declaration of Independence drew heavily from the Dutch Act of Abjuration.
The Netherlands also represented a safe haven and a model of religious tolerance that played a big role in the development of the  "American" concept of religous freedom.
And that doesn't even take into account the contributions of citizens of the Netherlands in the fields of Art (remember Rembrandt?) and Science.
Nor should we forget the large numbers of American fliers of the Second World War who owe their lives and their freedom to members of the Dutch underground.
You may choose to have your difference with the modern Dutch attitude, just as they are free to have their differences with ours, but please do not discount their historic contributions to our ideals and to our society.

BA
