I found this hunting near San Jacinto River in Texas. It measures .439 inches wide and .303 inches tall without the black whatever in the middle and .397 inches with the black whatever. Any ideas?

No Cartridge I've ever seen.

It would be of the Rimless type.

I think it's the end of a fuse of some type.

Its either a percusion cap for an old black powder flintlock, as the piece protruding out the front is the igniter.

I think you are right Homie. As a collector and shooter of all types of firearms and ammo, I have never seen any cartridge or componant that looks like that. An end cap fron a cartridge type electrical fuse looks exactly like those pictures.
