auminesweeper: One is an 1849 (with the square trigger guard) the other is an 1850, both are 31 caliber, unfortunately there are no grips, rotted away years ago.. I found them at an old stage depot in west Texas, with the bullet mold and the power flask that had the old Colt eagle on it, again unfortunately I lost them in a fire in 1992... You'll find some guns one day. I just sold a SSA that I found in the wall of a stone house in the Cabillo Mt. There are plenty to be found if you hunt the correct places. I even found a Charter Arms 38 pistol in Memorial Park in Houston, turned that one in to the police, who later returned it to me.

Well Richard it looks like your doing something right, I have found a few pistol shot and musket balls, and one time i was

diggin one signal and i dug down about a foot or more ( i was using a minlab GP 3500 pi ) and when i got the plug out then i dug

down a foot and when i looked down and there was a bullit ( what i thought was a live round pointing straight at my head

and i thought whoops this ain't good so when i got it out of the ground i saw infact it was'nt live at all it was a practice round

from a Lee enfield 303 in great condition, but since then i have found a few live rounds and it does make you slow down when

ya diggin and just take more care.

Karl:
We have every type of soil here in the USA, from red clay and black gumbo to sandy soil that is neutral. Sometimes you can find an object in good shape then a few miles away find the same thing that's literally falling apart...
