My F5 Was maxing out with gain at 99 and Threshold at+9 in wet soil when I disc. Fe, foil,Tab and Zink. I had only 5 cents dime Qtr and 50c in tune and I could max out at everything! No charter till I got a hit!!!
Is this normal with a F5.?
Regards
Bobby.

Bobby sometimes the tracking will be adjusting to suit your gain setting and the tracking will start to hunt at high
gain settings as it is trying to settle the machine down again so if you back the gain off a touch more this might help.
And you will be surprized how little depth you loose by doing this, ok

Give us a call back it you have anymore troubles.

Bobby, I was at a sand pit playground behind a shopping center here in Perth when I started combing. Nothing for a while but then I got a signal and all of a sudden, I had this very odd chattering going on. I shut down the machine, turned it back on. All quiet again. Until I swept the target again. Chatter is back.

Well, being the curious fellow that I am, I started looking around and discovered an ultrasonic intrusion detector. Actually, several of them all around the building used as motion sensors. Most likely for watching for intruders or turning on lights when people pass by. I noted the manufacturer and continued hunting with a lot of annoying chatter for each target.

When I got home, I looked up the model and discovered that the frequency was very close to my detector frequency. The chatter was caused by the beating of the two frequencies, much like a BFO machine. It was like having two people using the same machine near each other.

All that being said, were there any ultrasonic devices nearby? A dog with a training collar perhaps? Another detectorist?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Gold Digger and fellow members.
I was in a park I had Ben through last year and there are no electrical interference but along the back fence line witch are only common lines.
I respect all your replies.
I was just was out and tested and same thing. I think my F5 is just the way it supposed to be. It works fine on less disc, and the usual settings I use.
HH Bobby.

I am sorry but I don't understand the answers to his Question.
The way I read his question is that he is not having trouble with chatter but rather is it normal for his machine to run
on max settings and not have any trouble with chatter. He is wondering is this normal or is their something wrong with his MD
to be able to run so hot with no chatter.

Maybe I am not understanding his question but now I'm confused with the replies he has been given.
