I have recently started THing again after about 5 years of inactivity. I have a 1225X, Whites classic III sl, and a Bounty Hunter Sharpshooter II. I have made lots of good finds in the past with each of these machines.I am most fond of the 1225X for it's simplicity and ability to find deep targets. Has there been any significant advances in detectors in the last 5 years to justify spending hard earned cash for an upgrade?

There have been advances in the area of multi-frequency detectors, discrimination, ground balance and target ID. None of them is so significant that they should have you reaching for your wallet. Get back into things and keep reading here to see if you need to upgrade. As you can see by my inventory of detectors, nothing I have is less than 10 years old.

I found 11,000+ coins last year. Too many to count. I have to weigh them.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
