I just got a Fisher 1265X at an auction, along with a hard case.  In the hard case were some Depthmaster Superphones and a tiny coil.  I also got a 10 inch Fisher coil.  The detector worked when I turned it on, but has no battery cover and it doesn't have a manual.  Fisher no longer has the 1265X listed on their pdf files, but I downloaded the 1266x, which is similar.  Anybody got any ideas?  Could use a pdf and any pointers to somebody who might have a battery cover would be great.  I picked up this model because my turn on and go machines chatter on the beach all the time.  Also, just about all my friends have the same brand of detector (Ace 350) and I was hoping that the Fisher's frequency might be different, so I don't get chatter from them.  Thanks so much.  I have always wanted a Fisher, and I got this one at $100 less than online prices.  I am itching to try it out for field hunting as well.   Detecting

Thanks, guys!  My stepson got me out of "retirement" after 15  years and all his buddies had Ace 350s so I got one and while I like it for fields and yards, wet grass and the beach kill it.  Same with this backup White's Prizm IV I got cheap.  A friend of mine had a Fisher and I was always amazed at the depth, so anxious to try this out.  If anybody has a pdf for the manual and wants to email me, let me know.  I am on Maryland's Eastern Shore, so surrounded my coastline.  I love doing fields near old houses, though, and have only found one pre-1800 coin since I got back in the hobby, so I am itching for a great find. Congrats on your new machine, Try and see if any other models covers will fit, If not it won't be hard to make one or get someone with a 3d printer to make you one,

Good Luck,  RR

Cool idea, but I live in the land of Luddites.  This was an estate auction and the deceased's son took an outline and was thinking of making one out of aluminum, so he might come through.  More interested in the manual at this point to see if there are differences with the 1266X (besides the obvious, 1265X takes two 9V, 1266x takes 8 AA and the battery check is in the trigger instead of a button on the 1266x).  I'll be nosing around and avoid the beach until I get a cover, but lots of fields empty this time of year! Homefire, they want a credit card for me to download that pdf, even though its supposed to be "free".  Thanks for trying! Pray

The battery cover is simple. Since the machine is not waterproof, all you need is some Velcro tape and some sheet Styrene. You can get the plastic sheet from any hobby shop and cut it with scissors. Using the loop side of the Velcro, make a square of it on your box with the tape extending from each edge to the width of the tape. Do that for all 4 sides. Then cut your sheet Styrene to match the size, put the hook side of the tape on the plastic and there you have it. Instant battery door.

I was thinking along that line.  I certainly didn't feel I needed to have an original cover if I could make one up.   That auction was amazing.  A ton of White's detectors from the early 80's went for $5 each. Idiot
