Those early White's machines were sure heavy though. Today's machines with their lightness make life a lot easier.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Well, they were antiques, DB4s, 5900DI, original Conmaster, that sort of thing.

Now, I have a new dilemma.  I went into the auction ignorant about Fisher technical stuff, like batteries.  As I said, the back of the battery holder was missing with the two battery leads sticking up.  They looked like 9 Volt connectors and a guy actually had a couple 9Volts that we stuck in and the machine turned on.  Without the manual, I was totally clueless.  However, the 1266X manual that I downloaded says that the 8AA battery backs snap in, so my next question is.  Does the 1265X use the same AA arrangement as the 1266X?  Also, what is the operating frequency?  I know my Ace 350 and Prizm IV operate slightly about 8, hoping Fisher is different so no chatter because half a dozen friends of mine have Ace 350s.  Thanks! Smiley

A picture is worth a thousand words.  It's ironic that the machine fired up with two 9V snapped in, giving me a false sense of accomplishment :Smiley

Now, to figure out where I can get those nice battery carriers in flavors that will snap into the 1265X leads.  Thanks again! Clapp

I found them.  I think there should be a US supplier also.  In the old days, Radio Shack would carry stuff like that, but they are dying faster than analog detectors Wink
I am in a club and am going to reach out to them, too.  I am sure some of them have things like that lurking in their garages or workshops. Cheesy
I am so glad I joined this forum.  Now, I need to find some spot not picked over and put this grand old machine to work!

Perfect, thank  you!  Now to get them, get that cover made up and start learning how to use it like a boss! Rider

There isn't much on here about Maryland's Eastern Shore, so I'll try to post some doings over here.  I haven't had a good day in two years, when I found ten coins at a worked out camp meeting ground where the slope was washed down to the beach by Hurricane Sandy.  Most were Wheaties, but I got a Standing Liberty Quarter and a Barber dime, so the 350 isn't a bad machine, but I've always thought the Fishers were the way to go for the deep stuff. Pray
