Go Up Go Down

I finally got the battery holders for my Fisher 1265X that I got at the auction, so will be trying it out this weekend.  I got a 10 inch solid white coil with the trademark Fisher bullseye in the center.  I have heard rumors that some machines work best with the stock coils, so I am wondering if this model works fine with the bigger coil.  Any ideas?  I am going to start by hitting my back yard which was the original trash dump for the farm my development was built over.  Have found one silver quarter and a couple of wheaties on the edge of the junk, but occasionally turn up some pieces of brass (along with lots of WW-2 era whiskey bottles.).  Thanks!  This site has been a big help to me getting this old favorite up and running. Clapp

Well, the whiskey bottles typical cheap booze bottles, but occasionally we dig up an old soda bottle, and that's worth some real cha-ching! Detecting

I would mark two area's out then stick  the standard coil at first then after you've done the first area change coils the go back over the same area to see if it finds stuff you missed and then do 2ND area with  the bigger coil first then back over with the standard one and which ever one finds the most stuff the over missed that's the one i would use  Smiley

What?  Do my own research? Wink

Sounds like a plan.  I will try that out this weekend, I  hope.  I certainly have plenty of targets out back to test with.  Wish there was a market for old boot soles.... Club

If u get another of them u can shred them then sell them to a stable's for their horse school floor they use shredded car Tyre so why not.and doing your own research is the only way to no how your machine works as all seem slightly diffrent to each other

You missed the sarcasm of my wink.... Smiley

Anyway, yes, learn by doing is fine.  I was just wondering if anybody had heard this rumor and whether there was anything to it.  I once had a Bounty Hunter Big Bud Pro with a 10 inch coil combined with a set of Depth Master Superphones and I got some deep stuff with it.  This Fisher also came with a set of vintage Superphones, so I am hoping to repeat my earlier feats with this Fisher.  So, thanks to you all for your advice and encouragement! Pray
