I MUST SAY THAT THE F2 HAS BEEN A PLEASANT SURPRISE AND IT IS VERY FAST AND CAN SEPERATE TARGETS VERY WELL. ALSO VERY LIGHT AND THE READOUT IS VERY EASY TO SEE. THE ID IS PRETTY ACCURATE AND I LIKE THE TONE'S. LOOKS LIKE THE ACE 250 HAS A COMPETITOR!

Hello John,

I have just spotted the CZ-21 on eBay some days ago. Do you happen to know what's the difefrence to the discontinued CZ-20? Any improvements and is it produced by Fiosher m-scope / Bounty Hunter?

Best wishes,

Christian

My Fisher F2 is supposed to arrive next Tuesday!  Sept 8, 2009 Cheesy
I have wanted one like this since the 80's  and they were  mega-bucks then!!
I read on another board where this fellow got one and really, really bad mouthed it.
On and on he went.
Finally he wrote that his unit was defective and was replaced and now he loves them. Kiss

Hello Everyone . I read that when Fisher was being acquired by First Texas the CZ20 was discontinued because of its high manufacturing cost . Fisher says the new CZ21 is an improoved circuit using less expensive parts and is more cost effective than was the CZ20 .  This is what I read on several websites today . If Fisher is telling the truth The CZ21 should be Identical or better in performance than the CZ20 .

I figure it is only a business decision on how to make the most money with the least effort.
My fisher 1260x was replaced with another model, but it still works like it did when I bought it second hand well over, something around 20 years ago.  I expect it will go deeper than my future F2 but I would not really know if I really was interested in digging it up. I hope I am more productive with the F2.  I am interested in how to get the most treasure with the least effort!  Is there and echo in here???   Everything changes, I hear our galaxy will be gobbled up by some cannibal galaxy in 3 billion years!  I will be lucky if I get to sleep tonight for the worry of that! Embarrassed

Hello Again Dustyr . The F2 has target ID and a Depth Readout . It will be a lot more fun to use than the 1260x !! You will be testing how accurate the readings are compared to what you find . And you should dig up less trash than the 1260x .  I am sure we will here from you next Tuesday with a nice "Field Test Report" !!  Great
HH........Regards........Eugene

with the f2 you cant go wrong for that price,ok the depth is well mmm not so great, but a super light weight coin shooter, mind you I also bought a minelab xterra 305 and went over the same park I searched with the f2,thats where I noticed the depth problem,(the minelab proved its self),finding more coins and some jewellery, but dont get me wrong it is a great little detector the f2,and the discrim is excelent, you will have lots of fun with it,its bettet then the old 1260 and (1266 which I used before),nice sharp crisp signals, the only problem I found with this detector is you lose alot of the nickel coins(in germany the old deutsche mark coins)thats where the mine lab cleaned up(nickel has a lower tone 12, then a pull tab 16)any way enjoy the f2 I did....mike

Go Up Go Down

Until recently I have never dug a nickel.  I was looking primarily for silver. My discrimination was set way high, as I did not want to dig pull tabs.  Misty and I have been digging everything short of iron and sometimes we were digging that.  As a result, we have found 2 nickels!  What is exciting is that we knew we would have a chance for gold jewelry.   Along the way, we were cleaning out the underground trash of pulltabs and aluminum bottle caps.(actually regular bottle caps too).  We are planning on making a grid search of the park.  I am also planning on documenting what is found at all the conductivity levels.
In anticipating greater pinpointing, we bought one of those truevalue 7 in 1 stainless hand trowel tools.
They sell them on ebay for $25-- Lowes has them for $13.  I figure we can get into the nicer areas of the park and not make a mess if we    dig plugs instead of our ever widening usual holes.

Mike
I am not really familiar with your minelab, but in looking it up, It looks like a great machine. In fact, I do not see any advantage in using the f2 if you have one of those.
however, for $215, I got  a similar machine with 2 coils and a pinpointer.  It was a hard deal to pass up.  In the running was the f4 and f5.  but at twice the price, I did not see they had twice the features.  Besides, with all the adjustablity, it would probably be adjusted wrong any way.....
it would be interesting for you to test/compare both your units and see what one could "see" that the other could not and at what depth and target id.  Did you run the same head size?
You have the advantage of having a good personal machine and a machine for a novice companion.
Best Wishes

Go Up Go Down

With much regret, my long waited F2 is going back.
I do not know if I had a lemon, but it did not work well for me.
The first thing I noticed was a big gouge in the plastic that covered the display screen.
It did not hurt the function of the machine, but was annoying as it was in the middle of the screen. Probably from some non-caring, over worked Chinese factory worker.
The machine triggered false positive targets on a ratio of 50 to 1 real ones.
Each one had to be investigated and resolved.
The machine did not false positive in open ground.
I lowered the sensitivity and sweep speed, with no improvement.
In sweeping a single target, the number id would jump from 08 to 65 over the same target.
Also if the target was within the threshold, then the tone would sound.
If it wasn't then the tone would not.  It was simply on or off.
That is what makes false positives so exhaustive. You do many sweeps because you do not know if the target you were interested in was below the threshold or from something else and not sounding right now.
It was very confusing-especially if there were multiple targets in the area.
As to the pinpointing.
There were three methods of operation.
1. it worked very well
2. There was a constant howl.
3. It was completely silent.
The one consistant thing, with the F2 I had, was it's inconsistency.
With all the rave reviews the F2 is getting, I am disappointed in the one I got.
