Was reading some report by a so-called expert?, he was saying that the F2 is not good for much but coin shooting--WOOOOOoo, i been using one from time to time for bout 8 months, (i have several other detectors), it is the least expensive of the bunch, but works quite well, it's light easy, simple to use, I don't use it a whole lot, but it is a nice outfit, so after reading this report from Mr Bigbucks, thought I would do some air tests, now they are not a true showing of ability, but are usually a decent indicator of what a detector will do, of course in the ground or wet soil they will all go deeper, here's what i got for a test, try it with whatever you have and see for yourself what your detector will do, it is interesting and enlightening, here you go=>8" coil and 75% sensitivity, no notching or discrimination/ seems to me it could be used for about anything Wise [teach]Id numbers used don't mean much, or the ID lcd when past 5 or 6" on anything actually
zinc penny 9"
nickle       9"
clad dime  8"
quarter 9"
58calibre roundball 9"
58calmaxi 9 1/2
c/w cuff button 9"
gold wedding band 9"
large gold ring 9 1/2"
silver pendant 8"
pop can size relic/belt buckle
20 -21"
small gold nuggett  2 1/2"===and this is what the F 2 did Now I spose somebody will disagree, but that's what I got with MY F2

The best detector is the one between your ears. You have done good.

Cheers,

Mike

You are learning, grasshopper.  There is not a lot of difference in the penetration of many of these detectors.  What drives the price up are touch pads, computers and pre programed hunts.   If you are willing to learn and use your ears you can get by without those extras.
