Hi,

I will receive and old gold bug nugget next week with the 6.5" coil. I wan't to know how deep he is able to search. Here, there a 4" of humus (vegetation soil), is this possible to find small gold nugget under that and how deep?

Thanks
Patrick

I have several old Gold Bugs (one with each type of coil). I will try out the 6 1/2" coil and let you know. By humus, do you mean loose leaf litter or is it more like the stuff you find in the rain forests of Washinton and the California Redwoods?

Dan

Four inches is pushing it. With the sensitivity at "10" and the volume at "10" I was able to pick up my 0.5 grain calibration nugget in the air and under loosly packed Peat Moss at 4". In typical beach sand and mild dirt, it was hit or miss at 4".
