Hello everyone. I went 'shroomin last Friday and came home  with about 60 morels.Today a friend and I hit the woods and filled a 5 gallon bucket to within 3 inches from the top.We weighed them and they were a little over 12 pounds. We called around, and  The fancy resturaunts around here are paying $15 -$20 per pound. Now comes the dilema either eat like kings,or make some cash.I think we're gonna sell half and keep the rest for eatin'.It did cost me though,I pulled 2 ticks outa my hide this evening.Gonna hit the woods hard this weekend, because the season will be over before too long. Frank T.

Wow, that is a lot more morels.  I have never found close to that amount.  I think I'm going to make a good sweep this weekend before the season ends.  I would love to find that much, then sell it.  Do you know which was your biggest you found?

Hello Junkmagnet. The largest of the late (I call them "yellows") morels I've been finding are about the size of a 12 ounce soda can. Last year ,which was exceptional,I found some huge yellow ones that would dwarf a soda can. This evening my one son and I made a 2 hour hunt and ended up with approx. 2 pounds a piece. If you go looking key on Old apple orchards and dead Elm trees,in meadow type areas. My wife, 3 sons and I Feasted on about 3 pounds morels this evening, cooked with some thin sliced steak.Good luck to you,I hope you fill a hefty bag full. Frank T. What state are you from?
