But what surprises me is WHY the “Authorities”, customs, The Police, Father Christmas, who ever,
doesn't stop them at the borders before the reach the end user, especially in a country like Australia.

Basically it's because there are no laws that cross country borders. In China, it is not illegal to make a copy of a product and sell it. Thus, the proliferation of clones. To be completely frank about it, don't we all look for a bargain? Do you pay retail if you don't have to? Over here, my go to place is KellyCo which has some of the best deals around. I can't blame a beginner for shopping a bargain.
In actual fact, it would cost more than $400 to produce a DVD player in the US. Buying it from China via a department store, they can be had for under $20. Crazy, but true.

Today if I want to buy a Whites or Garrett product I can't.
They are not allowed to sell it to me.
I have to go to the local dealer,
but I can buy clones form China.
i wonder do they actually work?

Well if you want anything from Whites I can send it to you and Where you pay about $1500 AUD for an MXT All Pro I get them for about $920.00 AUD and the postage is not too bad either, I could still save you over $400 Bucks,

LOL, More then Some is my Guess. Kinda Reminds me of every time I go to the Dump. Here you see a all but brand new bicycle or cool widget just laying there in the heap . You pick it up and start to load it up in the van and this truck comes skidding in side ways with a guy yelling PUT THAT BACK ! NO SCAVENGING ! SCAVENGING they Call it? I call it WTH did they chuck this thing out for! Then you move on to the Recycle location to dump your stuff and watch the guy load it up in his truck. LOL
