Last Raid at Cabin Creek

This award-winning documentary tells the true story of the final Confederate raid into what is now northeastern Oklahoma. The military operation was planned by Confederate Brigadier General Stand Watie and was executed by Brigadier General Richard M. Gano. Called "one of the most brilliant and daring raids of the Civil War," the raid culminated in the capture of more than 300 Federal wagons with goods valued at over $1.5 million. The wagon train was captured after a pitched battle on the bluffs of Cabin Creek, Indian Territory. On January 25, 1865, the Confederate Congress passed a resolution officially thanking Watie, Gano and their respective commands for their actions on the 19th of September 1864 at Cabin Creek in the Cherokee Nation.

Thanks!
Steve Warren
