As I was strolling thru a mountainous region I found a rock with black quartz crystals growing on it.
Does anyone out there know if they are valuable? Shocked

Hello . If it is smoky quartz , dark gray or black it is rare and can fetch some real good money . Pictures of smoky quartz are posted on the internet of course .

HH...... Great......Eugene

If they're jet black, they may be tourmaline rather than quartz.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I had given my mother the rock and she thinks she placed it in the front yard along with some other rocks I've given her.  Well, guess what, that rock sprouted legs and must have walked away-no trace.
I think it was quartz because it was 6 sided.

Hello bhunter . You need to go strolling through the mountains again , get as much of that quartz as you can and then take some digital photos for us at the forum . If it turns out to be the expensive quartz , do not put them in your mom's front yard .
