I know where you found those Ironman... Wink No need to classify something already classified and found in a known strewnfield of like types. Congrats on some great finds.

Eric

Ben,  Thanks!!  How the heck are you my friend? Yeah I think The wife is getting a little jealous of my good friend miss Glory! She says I am spending to much time with her these days!!! Ha ha, just kidding she is super supportive of my crazy adventures! Yeah, I also remember the Z-man and I fueling up at Sonic before a hunt. I guessed it helped cause that's the day Zaya found his first pallasite!!

Eric,   Thank You!!  It is getting crazy hard to hunt the area anymore! I agree on the classification, no need. I know they are 100% genuine meteorites! I am anxious to receive my first issue! By the way, I am still waiting. Any word on possible arrival?

Thanks all!!     Ironman

Ironman,  Karl Von Mueller used to say "Treasure is where you find it".  People find treasure everywhere when they least expect it.  Car body repairs have shown little car compartments with cash stashed in it.  A guy found a one dollar gold coin wedged in the paper lining of an old steamer trunk etc etc.  And me...well I'm still waiting for the Elvis consortium to give me a Cadalic, but if they don't, I'll keep on looking and maybe I'll be surprised someday when I unearth an artifact from MARS...I know, I know, but it could happen ya know!? And when I ain't even lookin fer it.

Very nice finds.  I've never had the chance to purposely hunt for meteorites but it looks like a great time.  Especially if you make finds like yours.  Thanks for sharing.

Eric,  It is extremely rugged and difficult terrain to hunt! Looking forward to your magazine!

Rattlesnake Joe,   You are absolutely right!! Treasure is where you find it!! MARS...Hmmmm you never know and your right, it will be when you least expect it! My best find to date was when I was headed back to the truck after a long day of hunting and getting skunked prior!

Goldnboy,  Thanks! Yeah, I have seen many falling stars but have never been lucky enough to see them actually fall. I will post some pics after my next hunt. Hopefully I won't get skunked!

GaDawg,   Thank you! Meteorite hunting is a great hobby! Especially when one is lucky enough to make a few finds. It really is to one's advantage to study and do lots of homework before hitting the field. That way you have knowledge of possible areas which might hold meteorites as well as known strewn fields in your area where other finds have been made. It also helps tremendously to pour over countless photos of meteorites so you will know what they look like. Gem shows are a good place to see them up close and in some cases actually handle them. It will increase your odds of making finds.

Thanks all and good hunting!

Ironman

Hello Steve,

Thanks!  I use a Minelab SD2200V2 and a White's GMT. I have found them with both detectors. Both are great detectors. What detector do you prefer?  The weather is perfect right now for hunting. My favorite time of the year to get out, enjoy the outdoors and find some treasure! Good hunting!

I've never actually hunted just specifically for meteorites. Mainly was just a gold prospector and my detector of choice was the Gold Bug 2 but I also had a Minelab x-terra 705 for coins, etc. Unfortunately, I've had to sell both my detectors earlier this year.
