I would like to know if there are any gem mines in Ontario open to the public for digging and picking gems and to keep what you find...Also if I go to a mine open to the public in the U.S and find some gems (if lucky...)do I pay a fee(tax)at the border,or they'll take the stones away.I'm planning to go either to a gem mine in Ontario or to the States with my family for digging or picking.Any information is greatly appreciated! Also own a Garrett AT Gold metal detector, however I do not think that they will allow me to have the detector on their property.
