Hello everyone, i have been detecting for years and have recently wanted to hunt for meteorites and I dont have a clue if they are even Located in my area ( south ms.) Or how they are identified , any help or advice is greatful.

Meteorites are located in every state but whether you can find them is another matter. Any state with heavy vegetation like forests,fields,etc will be a severe hindrance to hunting meteorites since it will make them almost impossible to find.

The exception would be a fresh fall where they wouldn't get buried in the grasses like an old fall would.
That's why most of the meteorites found in this country are located in the western states like Az, Nev,N.M etc.
Also lots of BLM land in those states which means you can hunt quite a bit of land and not worry about ownership issues like you might have in southern ms.
