I?m not sure if this could be fossilized wood. Some of the structures on the surface look like wood, but for me it seems more like a kind of volcanic stone. Natur produces very often interresting structures.

Hi Xavier

The little holes in the end look like air bubbles, very common in lava rock here but it could probably happen in any fossilized object as well.

Here are some pictures of a chunk of wood from south eastern Oregon but I have no idea if wood from your area would look the same. Sorry they arent real good, it was dark and raining this morning when I left for work.

There is definitely a big difference. Yes I especially took that photo to show those hole?s I had not noticed them till this morning when I was looking for the correct angle to photograph any how it still looks good in my garden. Grin
