meteorite hunt with magnetometer

Hi, I know that probably this question is being answered many times, but the search on the forum return nothing. Maybe i can't find the correct words to perform a good search.

the question is: can a meteorite be hunted with a magnetometer ?

I think it would be possible because most meteorite are metallic... but any of you have some information about that ? can a magnetomer reveal a meteorite in the soil ?

If it is metallic you will no doubt detect it. Remember that some are actuall brachia which is not metal.

I want know if someone already do this...
my idea was:
because meteorite are a rare find.. maybe the ability of a magnetometer to search a bigger area and depth (in respect to a metal detector coil) maybe will help to increase the chance of recovery.

due to the ice melting... I want to try this in the moraine of alpine glaciers.
