Be interesting to see what the experts have to say.
Looks a little like old babbitt.

metal is good. does it stick to a magnet?  if so, nickel test, send a piece to the address on the link if you want me to do it, no I dont keep it  Smiley , or try a the geology department at a local university.

it does not look like a meteorite in form.  Looks similar to some silver globs my dad found in new mexico, silver will not stick to a magnet, neither does lead, some of the other heavy metals we have found while looking for meteorites with metal detectors.  more info, will try to help.  best wishes, don

Love your coil, did you make it or buy it. I want one....anyway I am finding some minerals that set off my detector. I have located a hole that shows up on google maps. I was concerned theres an impact crater thats not been identified. I originally found a piece of granite that rings up nickle on my detector. The only rock I likedat the hole, was found outside the hole near it. It was brownish, smooth, and definately not like the others. This hole is on high ground, we dont get much rain. This hole as I call it is big, probably 10 -20 acreas in area. Im not a scientist, and just happy I found something, even if its nothing. If I sent you a picture, do you have enough experience to ID it. Till I know what Im looking for, it would be dumb to dig. I left the site untouched. I also need to identify the other heavy minerals setting off my detector, as I have found these rocks everywhere. Thanks.
