Go Up Go Down

I just finished these -- they are my first larger carvings, and I need them for a show in Silver City NM this weekend, to exhibit the tiger king type rocks from a mine I am partners in with one other person.  It is rare stuff, and polishes well.  The Indian is about 75 pounds.  The Tigers about 13.  Here is a link to some pix about the mine:

Tehy look really good to me! What tools did you use to carve them and how long did it take you?

there is 50-60 hours in each.  I used various cutting and grinding tools, including diamond saws, side grinders, hand files, variety of silicon carbide cloths, and zam to polish (Chrome Oxide).  The rock runs from 4-5 only in hardness, and polishes fast.  I have hopes for this as a carving rock, but had to have some to display, and though roughs, they were laborious, and are interesting I think.  Thank you for the comment.

Very nice work billder...I carve some stone myself but I cannot photograph them as they are native pipes made from pipestone which is sacred to native people.  I also cannot sell them they have to be gifted to specail people I meet.  Sometimes I may have a pipe for years and when I meet the person who is to carry it I know it and I give it to them.
