Thanks for the photo. Did you collect it yourself? Very interesting area from what I read about it. I had many chances to stop by and try the digs but never did. I had heard many bad things about that opal. Very unstable and unsuitable for anything but a showpiece and not for use in jewelry. It can rival anything found in Australia but just couldn't see the purpose of trying to collect it if it just fell apart unless it was kept in a bottle of mineral oil,glycerin, water, etc.

Yes I dug all the opal that I have most of it from the Royal Peacock mine.I used to go 3 or 4 times a years to the  Peacock mine, but they have priced me out of the opal market at $ 180 per day. I would say that 90% of the opal is unstable, but digging out such an amazing stone made up for the stability issues.
