Can anyone tell me what Tourmaline and Koaline is worth? I have found a stream not too far from here that is full of smaller pieces so there should be bigger stuff upstream.

Any of the gems including the tourmaline is according to grade, color, clarity, etc. Most of the worth of tourmaline is primarily cost of cutting. In other words cheap. For insurance you would consider the price of cutting plus, but probably would not get that in a sale. A large natural specimen with a matrix attached does go for the best premium. A larger piece with good shape does well.  For the big money stones like watermelon (Bi-color) tourmaline do pull a real good price. I know you want a price but with all the differences any where from 99 cents to thousands of dollars.

The Koaline only worth it in mass quantities. In other words sold by the pound or ton but finding a buyer would be tough.

If you are finding that look for other gems also. Ruby, sapphire, garnet, rutile, etc. In your area heck I would even bring out the sluice box or pan to check for gold.

If you meant "KAOLIN" instead of koaline, there are buyers for that kind of clay...if u have it in big volume.

I would go take a serious look at the Tourmaline. Good tourmaline facet rough is not cheap. If what you are finding is not too included, and has good color, I'd say look for more.

If you end up with some decent rough, do a search for gem and mineral show. Take your parcel to a local gem and mineral show, And find someone with faceted or rough tourmaline look at your parcel. People in the rough business are usually pretty honest, but common sense applies.

Good luck, and I hope you find some good stuff!
