Hello all

Another discovery

103 gold coins from 1355 to 1540, lay in a paper bag at the bottom of a trunk.

The origin

A woman dies. A distant relative inherits a trunk without a key, located in a bank, a few tens of kilometers from Nantes. The banker opens. Inside, documents and a small bag "rag paper "in the words of Henri vi?, numismatist. Without any indication of provenance. "We do not know where it comes from or when it was found. "

The expert

The heir decides to make them appraised by a specialist in Nantes. Henri Vi? is life which takes a firm numismatics for 30 years. He knows the "treasures" he has already appraised.

The reaction

On this day of February 2011, Henri Vi? is fascinated by what he discovers. "You only see it once in his life, "says he. "It took me ten days of investigation for Survey. "

Understand by "investigation", a thorough search in books to identify each parts, to identify, classify them. "A treasure is rare as consistent. It's a great satisfaction to have appraised. I even dreamed. How do you want me to go into retirement? "

The Pearl

Like any treasure, there is a nugget. A Portuguese coin whose "argus" does not have a price estimation. Just this indication: very rare. Quite simply, we do not know what it is in financial terms. It is a Portuguese play, a "Saint Vincent" struck during the reign of King's Portugal between 1557 to 1578. Two small arrows engraved. Give it a value not yet known.

The hypothesis

"This combination makes me think of a great merchant," said Henri Vi?. "It was a panel European merchant who negotiates with all traders in the Atlantic. " A trader who have worked with Portugal, England, Flanders, Brittany.

"The latest dates correspond to the wars of religion during the reign of Charles IX (1560-1574). Disorders had burst. Following is a drama, like any treasure. He did not come to fetch his cash he had hidden. Died leaving his hoard. "

Become

The heir to this treasure, which just recover, do not know yet what he will do. He can keep it as selling parts via a numismatic or in an auction. Or both.

Price

"It's so random," warns Henri Vi?. At the very least, the sale of such a treasure-without-auction exceeds seventy thousand euro. But anything is possible. One piece has recently gone up in public sale to one hundred twenty thousand euros. It was a "Morabitino thirteenth century. We do knew that three copies.

The wish of Henri Vi?? "What foreign currencies back to their country. "Back to roots after a mysterious journey of over six hundred years.

Good reading

Luc

Hey quickdraw69

This is often the case, to find things hidden in old newspapers or paper bag. But for future generations, they will find these things hidden in boxes of polystyrene Mc Donald.

Thank you for your reading and your little word

All the best

Luc
