The mystery of the treasure of the RER
The owner of 20 kg of gold found in the RER Friday at Massy station has not yet manifested. The loot, estimated at € 800,000, could end up in the coffers of the state ....

Sébastien Morel (with Gregory Plouviez) | Published on 03.01.2012, 4:10

At the  Massy-Palaiseau station, yesterday. The miners had moved to a suspicious package. They found a suitcase full of gold bars! Three days later, no one came forward to be recovered. |(lp / f.c.)

The incredible treasure of the RER B has not yet revealed its secrets. Three days after the discovery of 20 kg of gold at the station of Massy-Palaiseau, Essonne police still did not know yesterday where the ingots were left in a blue suitcase left at the bottom of a wagon. A suspicious package that has booked a big surprise to deminers.

One thing is certain: the silence of the owner deflated by the hour the theory of simple "oversight." And in turn raises several new questions about this strange nest egg.
What is it?
At current gold, the 20 kg of gold metal worth about € 800,000 ...! Provided that these bars are good in gold, proceed with caution investigators from the police station in Palaiseau. Analyses are in progress.
Some inscriptions were found on the bars, but no official stamp. It could be melted gold.
Where is it?
To check out where the holder of the blue suitcase took the train, police Essonne should review the videotapes of all stations served by the RER Roissy party. For now, the mystery remains as to the origin or destination of these ingots. But for police, the owner should not have a clear conscience to abandon it.

"It had to be disturbed," a police judge. But then difficult to establish the profile of the traveler. "The bars are not commonly used in transactions between thugs, they prefer cash, an investigator analysis. It is mainly used to pass the border to Switzerland ... "

Who will get it back?
What will happen this fabulous hoard if the rightful owner does not claim it, with supporting evidence? If he had the official status of "treasure", this gold mine could return to the RATP, and the driver who gave the alarm. But this provision of the Civil Code may not apply since, legally, a treasure is a "thing hidden or buried [...] discovered by accident." The Railway is it considered a cache? Not necessarily ... It could instead be classified as a "found object".

In this case, "gold would be the discoverer, or the person or persons who reported the suspicious package, if the loser does not claim it within a year and if the bars are not placed under seal  "Do we provide service to the lost property of the prefecture of Paris.
In the event of a placement under seal - the third scenario, perhaps more likely - gold ... go into the coffers of the state.

"If it's a drug case, it will benefit the court and the jurisdiction of the Essonne, it says the prosecution of Evry. This money can then be used to purchase vehicles, equipment ... "

The fraud was to go. Or the instigators of this story have probably read this book:
The golden butterflies - Dominique martial EditionsPocket.

What a find that would be. Was it a hoax? If so one has to wonder why? Very curious....

Hello Idaho Jones

Big disappointment. After consideration, the ingots found Friday night in a suitcase abandoned in an RER the rail yard Massy-Palaiseau, in Essonne, are not finally in gold. Conducted by an expert jeweler has revealed, four days after the discovery of "treasure", that these twenty small ingots were actually made "metal covered with a thin gold coating, which may contain some gold, but a priori no value, "said Assistant Commissioner of Central Palaiseau, Lénaïg Le Bail.

Too bad for the driver of the train RER which had reported this parcel abandoned. It does not pocket the half of the loot, estimated just after its discovery to 800,000 euros.
Track of the scam privileged

No one came (and rightly) claim that false booty and an investigation was opened on its origin and identity of its owner.

The track now preferred by the police is that of crooks who tried to get their bullion for gold. Investigators from the police station in Palaiseau will examine CCTV cameras at all stations located between Roissy and Palaiseau for clues.

Ah yes I see, thank you for clarifying Luc Smiley Sounds like a scam artists prop alright. Makes sense that no one hopped up to claim them....
