Hello Luc

Thank you for the interesting story.

It is a prime example on how not to do things. Especially with antiquities.

Hey HardLuck

This is indeed what not to do, especially with the French law on the discovery of antiquities. We can wonder if it would be our attitude during a spear fishing in search of sea urchins, we find objects of inestimable value. Knowing that no formal research was undertaken before, there was no information on these objects. Should we talk about the risk of being away from the site by teams of archaeologists who will be sent to assess and map the area of discovery. Good question

 Great

Hello Luc

Now in regards to French law.

Just for example a hypothetical question?

How would one go if they allegedly legally bought this bowl painted over at a market and discovered it was gold underneath. Would it be the legal property of the buyer or become the property of the state?

Thanking you in advance.

Hardluck.

Hello Hardluck

Just a thought of mind, the question would not arise if its treasures remain undiscovered. History with a capital H would not have written.

I appreciate your analysis and our dialogue

kind regards

Luc
