Been a long time since I saw one of these. Estate/garage sale they did not know the charges went with the two soldering irons. They kind of freaked when I told them what the charges were. Thought they might catch something on fire.

The cartridges on the top. They look like all metal shot gun shells. But if I remember right they contain thermite. You unscrew the brass soldering tip, the silver part stays attached, and put the cartridge in and close back up. The knob on the back is spring loaded. So you just pull back and let it go. It fires off and heats the tip. You can get around 10 minutes of heat. But that is according to the ambient and what you are soldering on.

That is quite the collectable ghola, good find.........I found a minature brass gas blowtorch at a yard sale years ago, brings back the memorys. Now propane torches rule.
