Welcome  from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!  I don't know anything about the AT Pro, but this is sure the place to find out.  Look up the thread on the detector brands!    Detecting

Hey, JB welcome from Arizona.   Haven't used it, but I have heard good things about it....especially the ones produced after initial run.

I really like my AT Pro. I have not had it long so may not be able to answer all your questions.
Here's a few things I like and dislike about it. Placement of the head phone jack wish it would have been rear facing. But with the supplied head phones I really haven't had any problems other then at first pulling it off my ears some when setting down to dig. They do make a adapter and extension that places the head phone jack toward the rear of the arm rest. But if you use it you lose the water tight connection since it is a standard head phone jack. I have a slight hearing problem so it plays in to the following. In standard mode with out the head phones to me they ring in good. But in pro mode you are looking for more subtle sounds and really need to use them. My original md was an ace 250 and it was loud enough to use with out the head phones. Even though it has a pin point feature in pro mode most of the time I don't use it. One advantage is when you get a few items near each other pin point to me does not seem to work as well as just using pro mode. If you have a couple items close by you can hear the two items pretty well and zero in on the one you want just by wiggling it. Then drawing it back the sound drops off when it clears the coil. So that is neat. It is heavier then I was use to but have got use to it. The weight balance favors the coil more then the ace 250 I was used to. Just starting I have been using it in standard mode till I get a signal I want to check then swap to pro mode. Some trashy areas you seem to get sound overload in pro until you slow down to check a small area. I have only used it once at the beach at the water edge but it handled that good. A lot better then the ace 250 for sure.
