That has not been my experience.  Most of my hunting has been on the beach and it ground balances out nicely in the salt water and wet sand.  It can by a bit chatty if set to max sensitivity, but turning the sensitivity down a few bars does not effect its depth.

Of course it probably isn't as good as a high priced water hunting machine, but for its price it works well in the salt.  The AT Pro is a multi-use machine.  Because of this it can do just about everything but obviously it has to have compromises and would not do things as well as a high priced dedicated machine.  So relic hunting, gold nuggets, saltwater beach jewelry, park coins etc - it does them all. BUT it is only a $595 priced machine so we can't expect it to outperform lets say an E-trac at the park or a Excalibur in the water. The difference is that it can do it all and truly is an All Terrain machine.

Mate I'd rather have yours any day, and I've had all those high priced machines and they don't work well in trashy areas that i work
if it cost $10.00 I'd buy it because it works and thats what we like doing, Is'nt it.
The down side of those high priced machines is, If i buy one them i will have the best but wont be able to use it,
just like owning a car but not having licence.

I love my AT Pro.  It is really a nice performer.  The only negative thing I can say is, the machine is slightly coil heavy. The arm rest, as it comes from the factory, sits too far below your elbow. It gives the weight of the machine a bit of leverage against your elbow joint. After the first few long days in the field, I felt like I had tennis elbow. It was quite painful. I solved the problem by ordering an extension on Ebay. Some guy is making them and selling quite a few... other people are making their own out of 3/4" dowel.

Other than that, I can't think of any negatives. Its a great MD.

Huh? And why wouldn't you be able to use a high priced machine?

Well with over 3000yrs of Iron working in the area i work in they suffer badly because of the speed you have to work
and you spend 8hrs or more doing an area 1/2 the size of a tennis court, because they null out all the time, no doubt
they are good but the recovery speed makes it imposible in infested areas.

Ahhh okay I understand. That's a very detector-hostile area then!

To JaimieF: For a bit more comfort if you swing for extended periods, consider getting a Hipstick. I use one and it's great!

My AT PRO has performed very well, found several pieces gold jewelry along with numerous coins and silver jewelry. Like a others have listed a screen back-light would be nice and the screen is a little small.

All in all the AT PRO has been a nice machine in the price point it competes in.

Thanks for the advice. I might have to buy one of those. I've never had any problems with my elbow until this year. It's either the AT Pro or maybe I am just getting old.  Smiley
