Update on the At Pro and a few tips or things I have found in use.

1) I have no issue with falsing or erratic ID's. I found in my opinion this to be a moisture issue more than any thing else. Yes you can turn sensitivity up to high, and not reground balance will cause more issues. But Over all these tweaks or manageable. The Moisture issue I found to be the biggest concern. The company is great in my opinion and will talk with you and share some info. That is pretty much what I look for in a company, doing the best they can.

OK, back to the moisture issue. The connectors tend to be finicky at best. I took this part apart and cleaned , and applied a silicone grease to the o'rings. That is a thick opaque grease used to seal vacuum tight fittings. It is also water proof and also against salt water.

The erratic cross talk info went away after doing this and one other change I made.

2)  This is what I did with no worries and do also if you choose to do. I cleaned the area where the connectors meet the housing. Lightly sanded and cleaned again. Then top coated the point where the connector and housing meet with a coating of 2 ton epoxy clear. I believe that over time the inner O'rings where allowing moisture to migrate to the inside of the housing.

Did all this in  2011, and I still have no issue with moisture. I have exchanged different size coils and always reapply silicone grease as needed to the O'rings.

OK the proof is in the pudding the say.

I have since used it in the surf no issue. Chest high water at the beach in Panama City Beach Fl. In the water for hours no issue.

While in the water I do readjust the settings as I listed in a earlier post. But that is just the nature of use and knowing this machine.

I have since found 7 diamond rings and other various necklaces in the water. Coins etc...

Pinpointing is the most needed skill here, and your choice of coil size makes a difference.

Yes large coils cover more depth. But they also miss smaller items to. It is a trade off I believe. Big coil larger item dig deeper.

I choose to only want to scoop three times for depth at max for me.
Besides with each scoop the item moves and the odds of retrieval get worse.
Sometimes deeper and other times with the wave current.

On the bright side I have been able to use it in the ocean and fill another area to search for items.

If you search you will see my other post of how to work the surf and deeper water with the AT Pro. Change depth ground balance again.

My settings vary, but most of the time in the water I use, All Metal  + Sensitivity 2 to 4 from max .

I use the higher setting in general location, then turn it way down to pinpoint and scoop. It works great after a little practice and getting to know the Machine....
