I have had better luck finding coiqns in trashy areas when I take out everythin in the ace 250 coin range except for a penny and up and lower the sens to 2 or 3 bars, when I get a hit I pinpoint and turn up sens to 4 or 5 then use pinpointer to locate.  Seems to get more coins and less junk, may not work for everyone.

does the sniper coil lessen the junk noise? or is it just a smaller field

JK, the smaller coil lessens the field and reduces the ground noise which allows you to run the machine at a higher gain setting
But most of all it gives you much better target separation

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Sorry Guys I have a habbit of leaving words out, It's a case of thinking too fast and typing too slow

What I ment to say was because it sees less of the (ground) so it has less of an area to deal with so the ground
noise is reduced and in most cases allows you to use a higher Gain/Sensitivity setting and therefore keeping
loss of depth to a minimum,  This is how I should of written it

Apologies folks

Think of a shotgun hitting a beer can. Its going to hit everthing around it as well...Using a smaller coil is like shooting the can with a 22 cal. and you only hit the can...(if your a good shot)

The 4.5" sniper coil for the Ace 250 will set you back about $50 to $60 on e-bay and under $85 new at Kellyco.   Between those two, you've got a pretty good idea what a reasonable price for one would be.
