Well I put a 10x14 coil oon my ace 250 and tried it in a pretty trashy area, not the best idea I've had it sounded like a sitar player on crack.  Tried it in a park with a lot less trash and I noticed if I'm moving the coil slow I get a lot more signals and sounds, than if I'm moving it faster. So I'm wondering how much coil speed affects the detecters effectivness?
Does the coil speed affect how well the discriminator circuts are working?

Thanks Bill

The view from this angle is that there are two types of system, one has to always move and one will give indications when perfectly still. Naturally slow movement is  going to give more distinct responses, than fast movement. also, the larger coil covers more area/volume, hence more trash at any given time.

I think the real answer is EXPERIMENT.
