Those batteries will work fine but there is a serious drawback to using NiMH batteries. They self discharge between charging and use which can bring the capacity down by as much as 20% even before you turn on the power. Keeping them on full charge will, not might, damage them over time. Thus, the old tried and true NiCad batteries are the best for the job. I got mine at Battery Book.

The technicians there took my old battery pack and spot welded a new one together for me in an hour. Went to lunch, came back and picked them up to install that afternoon. Yes, they are in Australia, but postage on one set of batteries is not that bad. Also, you do not have to actually send your old one in. Just send a snapshot of it along with a circuit diagram.
Each cell is 1.5 volts and they are wired in series. Sub-C means they are the same diameter as a C sized battery but shorter. Full sized C batteries will not fit in the spot set aside for the batteries.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
