We all know the problem that moisture and the Ace 250 control housing DO NOT MIX. It was clearly stated in the manual: Potect your control housing from heavy mist, rain and blowing surf.

Well for those who want to hunt rivers, beaches and probably long hours in wet tropical climate like ours here, this might be a safe alternative and giving you a little peace of mind.

I have figured out the problem by putting the control housing in a pouch bag (preferably waterproof) by separating it from the S-shaped stem.

Went a step further by omitting the S-shaped stem and using only the lower and the middle stem in which at the end the handle I placed a bicycle grip. Walla!! I still got an adjustable stem exactly match to my height (Asian size).

And without the S-shape stem I could swing the coil gently like a golf club, which I prefer. The control housing in the pouch bag is then connected to the coil by punching a hole just below the bag and sealing it with duct tape (to ensure no further tear to the bag or leak. Or as an alternative a canvas ring will do; should be bigger than the size of the connector plug to let it through).

Place a clear plastic zip bag to cover the control housing as a double precaution. I could still see the LCD display clearly.

Don't worry about the warranty nothing is being cut or removed completely. Just the two small screws which attach the control housing to the S-shaped stem. Without the S-stem the MD could stand on its own (see photo).

The pouch bag could be hooked to a waist belt or strap on the neck. Depends on height, the coil wire could be a little short  though. I only wrap the coil wire twice on the stem before attaching the rest of the coil wire to the control housing.

Hope this helps. HH  Sunny

You can also put one or two of the little packets that come packaged in some electronics/food stuff. You know the one that says "DO NOT EAT". I will remone some moistoir also. Just a tip...

Thanks for the tip. That will be handy for minute moisture content in packaging. What we wanted to avoid is really the splash of water on the housing.  Smiley
