I found out when I did get alot of ghost signals when going from dry to wet sand, I turned the 250 off... and then powered it back up and got no more ghost signals on the exact same sensitivity it was on before hand. I was out in the wet sand with guys with $1k+ machines with my $199 ACE 250. One guy had a whites MXT or something, and told me he was having problems in the wet sand and couldnt beileve I was out there with mine. He seen me dig a peice of nail "Which i knew thats what it was" about 5" with waves crashing right at my feet and said "Wow, im getting 2 of those" lol

Thanks for verifying what I suggested was a good solution. The fact is, my words on the topic caused you no harm but had you never tried it, you wouldn't have had as much success. Good work.

To the other two guys who are still mad at me, try it yourself and get back to me. The false signals do drop or just go away.

Now, how about some pictures of your finds? Even those square nails from the wreck would be wonderful to see!

Mate, it is not a breakthrough at all. It turns out that it was an unintended consequence of the technology they use to set the ground balance during the power up sequence. I asked about it because I noted that during the one day I ran tests on the Ace250. Admittedly, it was only one day but I put the unit through some pretty tough testing on that one day.

Now can we please just let this issue rest now? You do not have anything left to prove. Another individual did the same field test I did and came to the same conclusions I did. Yes, it is not documented. Yes, it does readjust when it is powered up. Yes, (you are right about this) once powered up it does NOT readjust again or adapt to changing conditions.

I was hesitant on this, but figured what the heck, i will try it. I couldnt beileve it when the ghost signals went away!

I dont want to get flamed, or hounded, but just going to say that it did work.

Read what KellyCo says about ground balance on the Ace 250.

They got this info from Garrett.
