So, they corrected the link and you want the old reference? Why? If they changed it, perhaps it's because the unit auto-adjusts like they say now. What purpose is there to the old link? Is that so you can say you were wrong but only because you never bothered to read Garrett's current information?

They did not. I was wrong.

I found it.

This is from the horses mouth.

Here is a link to the post,

Thats what it is for.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Now you can go argue with Garrett.

You seem to think they are wrong too.:Smiley

Outback, you should take that lousy piece of junk Ace250 to the nearest dumpster and chuck it in there. It's useless and will never do anything except work as the manual says.

This is really important to you, isn't it? Is this about some personal issue with you? Just go and try it. Please. For the sake of your own sanity. Give it a try. Just once. Please? For me?

Out Back is trying to not misslead people.

It is just deception by the manufactures.

Hope you finally got it,

Now that the point has been made,

GoldDigger is making accusations to cloud the issue.

It is not us Golddigger, it is Garrett.

Garrett says nothing about it in their catalog.

Hay Salt Fisher,

I am not trying to dispute what you say. I never commented on
that aspect.

It is documented by Garrett and most detectorist are well aware
that the Garrett Ace 250 has a set ground balance.

Newcomers are not.

I do not want people to be miss-informed.

When we get into what experiences you had at the beach, there
are a host ways the settings could have been. There are a host
of out side influences that are unknown.

I would be silly to comment on the experience someone had
one time at the beach. There are many things that play into this.

I would not even venture into it in the midst of a lively argument.

I would suggest doing what detectorist do. In time you will learn
more about detecting, and the features that are offered on different
detectors.

One thing that is confusing is that Garrett has their own way of
designing their circuitry. So does Whites and Tesoro. With
exceptions of course.

The way these different machines react is a result. Even worse,
is the fact that they are all continually changing things.

But, believe me and the industry when they say that the 250 has
a set ground balance.

I do not understand it all by a long shot.

But I would be silly to take one persons suggestion to hart when
the most experienced detecteorist I know of agree with what we
are saying.

The beach thing is a whole nother subject.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

TabDog, here is the post that Saltfisher took to suggest that he was not telling the truth when he made his test. This is the one that looked like a slam to him and to me. If it wasn't meant that way, fine. I apologize. But in your post here you do question my ability to advise him saying that he shouldn't take my advice. So far, the only advice he has tried is mine and, gee whiz, it worked.

You seem to have a serious beef with Garrett but I don't. I like them and their detectors. I own two now and will buy an Ace250 very soon.

Ok, folks, I just got a PM from TabDog that has me very concerned.

As of now, I am no longer participating in this topic. My apologies to Outback, Beachcomber and in particular, my favorite guy here, Tabdog.

No reply is necessary. I just don't want any ill feelings over such trivial matters as these. Enjoy your outings. I'll see you in other topics here.

I just think if you have no tried it, then you have no room to talk.

I could have and would have been the same way as you guys if i never would have tried it. I thought it was fixed ground balance too, and would have been right by your sides. Only difference is I TRIED IT!!!

I like to try things myself and confirm it. Not just go by a book. ESPECIALLY if people out there are claiming something different. TEST IT YOURSELF, THEN POST BACK!!!!

I dont think its that hard....

Sorry for all the confusion SaltFisher.

But, as I said before, there is a lot to be learned about
metal detectors. If you learn some more about GBing,
the answers may become more clear in time. The more
you read from experienced detectorist, the more you will
understand.

Do not take my word for it. Do not take any single
persons word for it.

Keep poundin tha beach and I hope you can share your
future finds with us,

Tabdog
