The tunnel looks the same pretty much, was still open last time I went up but that has to be 7 years or so ago. Got me itching to go back up there. I would have never guessed all those buildings existed from when I was there.

In the late '70's and early '80's there was a huge infestation of Pine Bark Beetle through the whole N.E. Oregon area.  The forest service let contracts for salvage logging and removal of deadwood from the forests.  The townsite was a center of logging activity and that is when most of the remains of the buildings were removed.  Subequent and sporadic mining activity over the years has change the mining area at Camp Carson.   Detecting
