Hey TJ
Do you ever make it thru Canton on the first Monday Trade days- it is no telling what you can find there
I've been about 6 times- just take 6.5 hours for me to get there

Hi findoldstuff.  I haven't been to First Monday at Canton in about 20 years.  I had a booth there a few times where I sold coins, small antiques, collectibles, and metal detectors.  If I remember correctly, it is about a 4 hour drive for me too.  Nowadays, I do most of my shopping for treasures on eBay.  I don't even have to leave my comfortable recliner.  Smiley

Man I like that place. Is the gold stinger your only detector?

Yep, the Garrett Gold Stinger is all I need at this point.  But I do have use of another Garrett with a large searchcoil when I need to go deeper but I will probably buy another deeper-seeking machine within the next year.  Most of my detecting recently has been just an hour or so here and there coinshooting or hunting swimming area beaches and I always find more coins and stuff than my partners, some use more expensive detectors that I won't name, so I have found my Gold Stinger to be the best coin-shooting machine I've ever seen.

The stinger does not identify the target does it?

No.  Call me old school but I'd rather do my own guessing as to what the target is.  Smiley  When you've used a detector as much as I've used the Stinger, you can recognize the difference in tone between, for instance, a silver dime and a copper penny.  I've watched too many of my hunting partners get all excited when their more sophisticated detectors say they have found something valuable only to be crushed when they dig up a piece of trash.

Here is a photo I took of one of the few remaining buildings at Indian Creek, Brown County, Texas.  I believe it is an old church building that sits on the main street running through this old ghost town.
