Hello All
Settled along the banks of the South Fork River between Sutter's Mill and Mormon Island is Coloma the first important mining town of the 1848 gold rush days.
Like all gold rush town the town started it gradual decline quit early with more lucrative finds elsewhere. By about 1870 the population was 200. and the county capital became placer ville 10 miles away.
Has anyone been there?
Hardluck
