Hell all

We have seen many forms of ghost towns, some abandoned due to economics, war, etc.... The village of Hallsand was the victim of environmental vandalism.

There had been a fishing village there from at least the 15th century, however in the late 19th century offshore dredging undermined the original beach which after repeated attempts to save the fishing village the village was abandoned after a violent storm that washed the beach and many of 37 houses and the pub away.

Today there is a sad reminder of two remaining houses and skeletal remains one or two others that have fallen into the sea with a ghost beach. What was once a vibrant fishing community is now the ghost of times past.

Hello All

Thanks Paul A for the interesting website. I recall there is a museum somewhere with relics of that ghost town.

Yeah.... think the museum is in Kingsbridge, recall going there about 10 years back when we were on holiday.

Houses you can afford to lose a few but when the pub is gone it's over.... Cry

Yet another interesting place, thanks for sharing it Smiley
