I just completed 2 articles for the group I run "American Ghost Town Hunters". Our young guys always ask me how I find so many ghost towns especially in the East. There is a common misconception that ghost towns are reserved for the West and all have the allure of Bodie.
I am primarily a ghost town hunter. I've located hundreds in the East that I may be the only one to have ever searched them. Check out my blog for my articles on how to find these places. It's too long to post here.....and let me know what you think.

Most excellent! You've got a good writing style and your sharing stuff people need to know. I agree way too many folks overlook maps. Even old road maps can help them find "ghost" towns if they compare the old to the new.....but they don't.

Excellent write up! Years ago I detected around brockway and east toward pennfield. You are dead on with your map methods. I have never tried comparing the old maps to google earth. Have to play around with that. Good time of year to read maps as tonight we're in for more snow in ct.:-)
