I once read a detectorist write up on where he found most coins around old churches. He carefully recorded where the finds were made over the years and plotted this on a site map of each church. Turned out most keys and coins ended up about half way between the front church door and the parking lot. He figured this is where folks would reach into their pocket to take the car keys out, the coins would follow along with the keys ever now and again. Another spot that was used before cars when buggies and horses were used was at the mounting block. The mounting block was a place were they set up a stone for taking a step up to the carriage. It was also the spot were folks would chew the fat before going home, thus the concentration of coins in the area of the stone. It would likely be the same for your gin mill. Where did folks mount unmount, is there a parking area. Is there a likely spot to take your lunch or hang out with the gals. Good luck.

Thanks,I have no idea.I know there's a field beside it and everything else pretty much has stuff rebuilt around it.There's an old apple orchard down the road from it and quite a few old houses, like servant quarters I would guess, but I don't know if that was from the orchard or maybe from the cotton gin workers.Anyway, planning on scouting around them too as soon as I get the chance
