Hi Hardluck ! Yours knowledge is impressive ! I just joined the "family" but I am already addicted to the stories here ! My nights are getting shorter and shorter ! To the Pgill - I see U are also from South Africa , I just get contact with Xavier , would love to also heare from U ! Looks like there is not many of us in the country ? Thank U ! Cheesy

I am living in Westonaria, and am having a hard time getting detecting as it is just not safe going to a lot of the good places alone. I am in need of a detecting buddy Hello

Hi Peter !
I am very glad i found U ! Sorry for late respond , but I am working some days in the " bush " where is no connection and no internet ! I am staying in Witbank , so fortunately not so far from U ! You are right , this country is no safe any more and I would be also very reluctant to go some places alone ! I am just starting this hobby and I didnt even put my hands on my detector yet ! Just bought it on the auction in Europe !But one have to start somewhere ! I am planning for now to start studying history and look for some interesting places around . I am strugling also with some technical problems here ! For examp : how to mark and follow forum/subject in which one is taking part ? I put some questions somewhere and now can not find it ! - How stupid ! Idiot

Hello Silki,

Thanks for the reply.... you are not far, but far enough Crazy

.... Anyway, try and get out there and do some detecting..... Start at the sports field, or next to swings etc.... But please do not dig big holes and get people mad at you Club

There are a lot of Boer war sites and forts, especially near Harties dam etc.... But you just have to be careful as some of them are on protected land.
Not sure how long it would take you to get to the Lenasia area, I could take you to 2 sites that I know there....

If you look at the bottom of the topic page, you will find a Bookmark button.... When I write a topic, I am always the first one to read the message, then at the sametime I hit the Bookmark button to save it to my bookmarks, when you want to get back to the message, look next to your photo at the top of the page and you will find the bookmark button, hit that and there is your message list. Hope that helps a little??? Angry

Thanks Peter ! Any help is wellcomed ! Next month I am going to Poland for visit and to collect my metal detector ( I am originally from Poland ! ) Guy, which I bout detector from, promised me to introduce me to it - will see ? What is legal situation here with our hobby ? Do we need some kind of licence or just permission from the land owner ?And what about the beaches ? Did U ever try hunting on the beach - I see in U.S. it is very popular spot ! I also noticed few abandoned ,old farm - houses in the area where I am working . Do U think it is worth it to look around it ? I am back from Polan end of July , so , if U will be willing we can meet mayby in August ?
