That's twice now you have mentioned U.P. without telling anyone where it is. Pretend we don't know. Tell us what it is and where it is.

Oh my bad being from Michigan I guess I just figured everyone knows U.P. means Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so if you live in the lower you live under the bridge and that means your a Troll.  Back in the 1800's the found gold on the west side of the Upper Peninsula but even before that that were mining the purest copper ever found and then silver was also found. The discovery of the huge vein of gold sparked a bit of a rush but the mines ended up folding and left behind are a bunch of ghost towns and mine shafts. The mine shafts are everywhere and some are not even marked or marked with just a thin wire creating some dangerous areas however there are still plenty of finds left behind.

My kid brother lives in East Lansing and one of my best friends is in Muskegon. I spent a lot of time in Sault Ste Marie and never once heard it referred to by those initials. Must be something recent.

Thanks for clearing it up. Perhaps now you'll get some responses.

Well I dunno the U.P. been around a long time. Lots of articles about the U.P. dating back to the 1800's also. The U.P. is part of the Canadian Shield and has the oldest rock formations in the world. It is believed that at one time western mountain range in the U.P. was higher then the Himalayans.  I grew up down state but have been coming up here for about 30 years now so now I live here.
The Sault is only about 45 min from me but going there ends up an all day affair.

When I go to Sault Ste Marie, I feel as if I am in another world. Love it.

Thats why I moved up here, the smell of fresh cedar in every breath, peace and tranquility, wild life all around me. Had enough of all the crime in the big cities.
