Hi guys, I build a XR71 detector and it has very poor sensitivity (about 2-3 feet). I think the best option to metal detecting is GPR and is very expensive. Can anybody help-out for building one by our selves?

Yes you can.  Would it be cost effective ?  Probably Not.  Unless you have access to parts on a really cheap basis.

Hey, Thanks for reply.
You probably right. But can't we done it under at least 50% of the market price?

Always contemplated at the Idea of replacing the Ultrasonic Front end of a Fish Finder with VLF circuit.  I've worked in VLF radio in the past.  I know how to make them work. I know the basics of Radar and have worked on the radio's them selves but not Modulator/De-mod Ends.  No Not sure I posses the electronic skills to completed such a idea.  Don't see that it would be all that difficult.  If you could modulate a VLF signal with the Out going Ultra Sonic and revers the process I really don't see why it couldn't be done.  Sound and Radio propagation differences would come into play for sure but that too could be worked around I guess.

Just thinking out loud.

Dear,
Have you ever cross this site [https://hackaday.io/project/4440-open-ground-penetrating-radar?page=2#discussion-list] It has little idea. But seems misguided too. Also I do not have basic idea about radar. But I think it is the best way to recover buried treasures than a detector. I'm eager to find some good method because there are kilos of gold buried in many places 10 to 50 feet below in  my country. That is why I built a sniffer XR-71 detector which I could find as the best possible DIY project in the web. Our community helped out a lot. But XR-71 is not reaching. I tried on many sites.
It seems no one interested except you about my idea yet. If you have, can you share any schematics or basics to a GPR? I like to spend money on a project. But I can not afford an original GPR which around $5000. Thank you for sharing the ideas..
Marsh.

I have no schematics.    Search the Net.  That's what I would do.

Yea. I did. So far I could not find any heavy data. But I keep trying. It took 7 months to build the Sniffer XR 71. If anybody helped me with previous experience, I appreciate.
