 Hello
Hi hichemishic,
It seem you need to build the Earth Resistivity Meter (Robert Beck, Everyday Practical Electronics) first...

http://www.geotech1.com/cgi-bin/pages/common/index.pl?page=geo&file=projects/erm1/index.dat

C1 C2 refers to the current electrodes (current source), while p1 p2 refers to the electrodes potential (potential or voltage measurement electrodes)

SK1, SK2, SK3, SK4 are described in that document.

You can make those electrodes from stainlessteel

If you want to use  low cost factory-made instruments you can try these link :

 Hello
Hi hichemishic,
Yes,  most of geoelectrical survey array use 4 electrodes, 2 electrodes for current injection (C1 & C2 or A & B) and another 2 electrodes for potential measurement (P1 & P2 or M & N).
There are several common electrode configurations used in the geoelectric survey :
1. Wenner array
2. Schulmberger array
3. Dipole-dipole
4. Square array
5. Wenner-Schlumberger array
6. Gradient array
etc...

Each electrode array configuration has its own geometric factor (k)

Actually means earth resistivity meter can be built by using a current source, an ampere meter, a volt meter and four-electrode.

or you can read very comprehensive paper about earth resistivity surveying from Dr. M. H. Loke at :

Hi hichemishic,
Sorry for late answer, because I just returned from outside traveling.

As described in EPE John Becker E.R.L   :

C1 (Current electrode 1) conected from SK2 (seems SK is short for socket like 4mm banana socket & plug),
C2 (Current electrode 2) conected from SK1,
P1 (potential elekctrode 1) conected from SK3,
P2 (potential elekctrode 2) conected from SK4,

But I want to ask a bit, Have you programmed the microcontroller chip  (IC5 PIC16F876) ?
Because of anything you try, if the chip is not programmed then the E.R.L. will not be able to function at all.

You can download firmware (*.hex) or (*.asm) file at :
