im a newbie and the reason im here is because im searching for the best detector for my particular need. ive been surfing the net for sometime and okm caught my attention. i would appreciate it very much if the above members who advise against it could expound a little bit more.
contrary to the company's claim, im yet to see an positive endorsement from an independent source.
 thanks a lot
 paul

Finderpro,
What can you say about the OKM products particularly the Rover C. They say its not a GPR, just a magnetometer. Like I said earlier, it has the capability of a magnetometer, to 2 meters,. but it can also penetrate the ground to 16 meters according to OKM. Can you clarify this disagreement if you have the knowledge about OKM products. And please post bit so everybody can see.
                                                                                                                                        Rudy

The OKM producst are Gradiometers. NOT GPRs and no way they will penetrate to 16 m.

My recommendation is NOT to buy any OKM Products.

Regards,

Christian

Hello Paul,

get a PI machine like teh Lorenz Deepmax, Pulse Star II Pro or Pulse AR III etc. VLF will only get down to 1 m maxm GPR is very expensive and not useable on many soils also requirig lost of training.

Best wishes,

Christian

christian,

thanks for the recommendation.

if your observation about okm is correct then people must know. better still, they should be penalised for false claim.

OKM devices are not GPRs. They are, as "christian" mentioned, gradiometers and most of them are fluxgate magnetometers.
So with these devices you cannot find any non-ferrous metals. Can be easily detected magnets Grin and also ferrous metal objects which are affecting the magnetic field of earth. Non-ferrous metals such as gold do not have magnetic affect on earth's magnetic field.
Beside you may find cavities with these expensive toys. But inside there is anything worth to dig? GOD knows not OKM Round About

br]
OKM exp3000-4000 series tested many times in the plotted field with the requirements of this device, such as investigating from north to south and so on.
Many metals buried not more than 50cm, but was not able to detect at all. Only the magnet has been detected. These OKM devices are real cheating. Beware of all of them....
Test has been done in Turkey-Ankara with whom was convinced by the seller of OKM in Turkey that exp4000 is better than exp3000 and convinced to purchase upper model exp4000. Means he tested 2 of them.

Hello Finderpro, I have a OKM Future 2005, which gives inconsistent results when repeated scans of the same area done, no 2 of the scans are similar. So i had the output signal checked on a spectron analizer, and it barely registered a signal. Is this a common problem? is it an off the shelf component that needs replacing, or something more involved.

Hello Neil

sorry if I sound negative but it is an immanent OKM problem .. or in other words their hear doesn't work as it is supposed to work. Also it is just a magnetometer and no real GPR.

Regards,

Christian
