Hi to all TH,

Please see attached file for the result of my Nokta Golden King simulation for dectection capability as of Aug. 30, 2009 with depth tolerance of + 12.5cm & - 32.3cm. After a month or a week a simulate again the detection for repeatibility result or to correct the data due to when I performed the detection then compaired to the procedure of detecting on technical manual I have minimal error or 1 reseting lapse per detection. So I update this data if have new result. Also in a last page the result of Nuovo Sonda MD5008.

Hope this study is a tool to gain our knowlegde for detecting.

Thank you for your test pictures,

Hint:

Passing Speed over the target effects the determination of depth, after some trials you will get better results

Vourvon,

Maraming salamat (thank you) for taking all that trouble and hard work. I read thru your .pdf document and I am a bit puzzled. Did you mean "Depth" where you wrote "width"? I know English is not your main language (it's not my main language too); width = how wide, depth = how deep. I believe people would be mainly interested at how deep the target can be detected.

May I suggest that you also include 3 more types of data in your test: 1) Ground balancing (auto or manual) 2) sensitivity level. 3) ground temperature level (can use a meat thermometer to measure that).

In my own experience, I can add 2 more bits of info:
1) When the ground temperature is above 44 Celcius, the Golden King will give inconsistent readings. It works fine below 44 Celcius.
2) Objects that have been buried for a long time can be detected at deeper depths, and appear on screen as larger than they actually are. I believe this is called "the halo effect" with corrosion spreading thru the earth (eg rusty metal) causing it.

I can't comment on the MD5008 because I've never used it, but your results are eye-opening! Enjoy your Nokta!

Hi Hobbyist

If you know / think, you are very close to your target and its very deep and small target.

Make your sensitivity maximum (%100) and choose manuel ground balance and make + effect maximum, you will see that you will detect very deep targets.

Please remember to make detection with + maximum is not easy, therefore please use this option only above mentioned situation

Hobbyist,

I used the term used by Nokta "width" means depth so my thinking if somebody compair to the data table of Nokta it same word. For the ground balance I used the default setting recommend by Nokta "80" I think % and manual ground balance and I also include the result of area temperature with humidity.

Hauptmann, I have done so before and you are right. Operating at max sens is very tricky and can produce undesired results. I find that it helps if I first scan the area with my TF900, autotune on, at a fast speed (approx 1m/s). If I hear rapid "baw-buh-ba-buh" above threshold from the TF900, the area will be too difficult for the Nokta to operate at max sens.
Can you share any experiences in using the Nokta on wide swaths of solid rock? I have just obtained written permission to detect on an area whee the overburden soil has been removed and a very big expanse of rock/concrete has been exposed. I will, of course, ground balance on rock.

Ok Vourvon, I can see your logic in using "width" there to be consistent with Nokta's usage of the word. A note stating what you mean by "width" may help avoid confusion by readers....just a suggestion! As for temperature, I have to watch out for both ambient and ground temperatures because if it is too hot (and it has been crazy hot these days), I will get funny readings from the Nokta. It's either that or only detect during the cooler morning hours.

Hauptmann, I think it'd be better if you just post a summary of yr experiences here. 21.30 Holland time was sleeping time for me, and RTL 4 TV requires I subscribe to some SMS content before online viewing is allowed. Thanks!
